Modern Calligraphy workshops are back in Perth! In this first workshop of 2023, Sophia of By Sophie Rach Calligraphy and I are coming together to share their love for calligraphy with you. In late 2022, it came up in one of our conversations that it’s been a while since either of us had a group workshop and we both missed connecting with like-minded community. That sparked an idea – why not band together??

Whether you have been thinking of picking up a new creative hobby, or are just looking to try something new, we would love for you to come along to our Introduction to Modern Calligraphy workshop. Designed for beginners, no prior experience is needed and a thoughtfully curated calligraphy starter kit is also included for you. In this 3-hour workshop, you will be guided through the fundamentals of modern calligraphy – from setting up your pointed pen to doing your first basic strokes, before progressing to letterforms and eventually writing your first calligraphy words.

Sophia is the principal calligrapher and engraver behind By Sophie Rach Calligraphy. Having founded her studio in 2017, Sophia has held many modern calligraphy workshops to share her love for calligraphy with the rest of Perth. Sophia also works with luxury brands, providing bespoke calligraphy services at their on-site brand activation events. Having taken an extended break from teaching workshops, we’re both excited to work together to deliver calligraphy workshops and meet budding calligraphers from all over Perth this year!
